BIO:
Jim Branca is a well‐known Vermont based, singer/songwriter/bandleader who uses his home in timeless blues as a launching pad to create music that embraces all American roots musics from Gospel, to Folk, to Swing, (and everything in-between) while exploring and honing his own unique "voice" and mission in the world of modern music.
A seasoned and in demand showman and storyteller, Branca has racked up credits
that range from session work and touring the Gospel and Blues circuits in
the deep south, to performances with the Broadway musical cast of "PumpBoys & Dinettes" at the Las Palmas theatre in Hollywood.
After transplanting himself in good Vermont soil 17 years ago, Jim has sown a lot of creative seeds. He Fronted the Band "Bloozotomy" for years, was named "Best Blues Artist" by Good Citizen Magazine's Critic Poll, crowned 1st place winner at Advance Music's "Guitar Summit" showdown, and hosted the much loved "Howlin' @ the Moon" Roots Radio hour on 104.7FM WNCS.
"Branca plays nothing but amazing 100% original music.
Sometimes, it's even written by others.
But be it self-penned, or covered gem, he truly makes it "his own."
His first Vermont band & CD project: "Bloozotomy - Ain't Dead Yet!" gathered national and international rave reviews, a spot on "Drew Carey's HiFi Club" and airplay around the world on stations as far away as Greece,
(where it hit #3 on the charts) Australia, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Russia and France.
Jim has worked with, and/or shared the stage with such artists as Little Richard, Roomful of Blues, Corey Harris, Peter Wolf, The Imperials, Mighty Sam McLain, Andre' Crouch and the Disciples, Eddie Shaw, Susan Tedeschi,
Jim Lauderdale, Johnny Sansone, Big Joe Burrell & The Unknown Blues Band, Jon Fishman of PHISH, & NRBQ
to name just a few...
His last CD: "JIM BRANCA - LIVE" which captures the lucid Branca's firey magic as it happened one winter's night at "Nectar's" in Burlington VT, has stirred up some notice as well. The international music magazine "BLUES REVUE" had this to say:
"If LIVE is your first exposure to JimBranca, prepared to be blown away.
The Vermont-based singer and guitarist's show documented here is more uplifting, fun, spiritual, and
invigorating than ought to be possible...Branca's group feels like The E Street Band back in the day."
The last few years, Jim has taken time off to teach music K-12 @ Soar Learning Center, take some courses, study, spend time with his growing family and ponder the next phase of his life ahead.
(In 2010 Jim had just wrapped up recording a beautiful solo acoustic CD "Love is Like Water, All Around" @ Lane Gibson's studio, when his life and family were derailed by an explosion and fire that took pretty much all they had...so needless to say, his time has been consumed lately taking care of his family, healing, restoring, and getting everything back on track.)*

* Jimmy says:
Well, after our home exploded and burned, not leaving us much... we were homeless for a good long stretch, &
we lost access and email contact too. It's been a very hard, stressful, emotional year...all the loss, mourning, confusion, and jumping around last Summer (Thank God for the Corbiere family who graciously took us into their home, and Grandma Ernie too). Well, we finally did relocate back to Swanton, VT (HUGE Thanks to Tom & Prue for that miracle!) and as I put up this site you see now, we are still deep in the process of mourning, healing and rebuilding our lives daily, bit by bit... by the grace of God...Amen.

Did I mention how amazing my wife Marnie is?
I tell you what... if the upheaval and stress of the last year or so has taught me
anything.....it's showed me just how strong our love really IS!
Nothing is more important to me that the health and well-being of the sweet family
I have been blessed with for sure....
LOVE YOU HONEY!
